Chainlink (LINK) is an oracle network launched in 2017 with the native cryptocurrency LINK. The main aim of this blockchain network is to connect real-world data with blockchain networks through smart contract functionalities. Through the process of integrating off-chain data, the network is at the forefront of bridging the gap between the outside world and blockchain technology. Chainlink facilitates various blockchains interacting with external (real world) payment methods, data feeds and events.
The decentralized network is made up of node operators, data providers, researchers, smart contract developers, security auditors and more in an open-source community set up. Becoming an integral part of DeFi (decentralized finance), Chainlink is one of the most utilized sources of data used to feed information to DeFi dapps. Google has also integrated its BigQuery data analytics platform with the network.
The cryptocurrency underwent a successful ICO in 2017 raising $32 million, has a maximum supply of 1 billion coins, and is an ERC-667 token built on the Ethereum blockchain. See the chart above depicting the LINK price data and use the Buy button to start trading.
