What Is Proof of Address?

Proof of Address (POA) is a document that verifies the residential address you provided during your Oobit registration. It must show your full name, your complete address, and be issued by a trusted source such as a bank, government agency, or utility provider. See the full the full list below.

Oobit requests POA as part of standard verification (KYC) requirements used globally to maintain a safe and compliant platform. The document window depends on which product you're verifying for:

What documents can I use as my Proof of Address?

Document Validity Requirements:

• The Name ID needs to be the same as the on your account and POA
• Must be issued within the last 3 months (or 6 months if you are providing a proof of address for the send crypto feature)
• Must be in your name as per your ID document (not a relative's unless officially permitted by your region)
• Must clearly display your full residential address (street, address and city)
• Must be an unedited file (no cropping, no alteration, no screenshots with missing details)
• PO boxes are not accepted as an address
• If your ID document already shows your address, you can use it as your POA too, no separate document needed

Identity documents:

If your full address (street and house number included) is on them:

• Passport
• ID card
• Residence permit
• Driver's license

Government documents:

‍Issued within the last 3 months (or 6 months if you are providing a proof of address for the send crypto to bank feature), showing your full name, the provider's name, and your address:

• Tax letter or notice
• Residency certificate
• Local council or municipal bill
• Letter from a government agency

Utility bills:‍

Issued within the last 3 months (or 6 months if you are providing a proof of address for the send crypto to bank feature), showing your name, provider's name, and address; mobile phone bills are not accepted:

• Telecom
• Water/electricity
• Internet bills

Bank documents:‍

Issued within the last 3 months (or 6 months if you are providing a proof of address for the send crypto to bank feature), showing your name, provider's name, and address:

• Bank statements
• Bank letters of address confirmation

Other:

• Lease agreements showing your name and address

Documents We Do Not Accept:

• Cell phone bills (however cell phone bills from the last 6 months are accepted for the send to bank feature)
• Statements of app purchases
• Screenshots (upload the files of the original document to the app)
• Cropped Images or cropped PDF files (upload the files of the original document to the app)
